Beginning on the canvas

I begin working on a painting; laying a foundation of paint that composes the work and influences its continuing development, through my interaction with the canvas. An attempt is made to lay down preconceived ideas, but fresh ideas are received back from the paint as the composition emerges. (Reader 2007)
